Michelle Thomas, FNP-C, BSN, MSN
Certified Nurse Practitioner
Credentials
Michelle is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing.
After graduation she worked as an emergency room nurse for 8 years.
She returned to school and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from South University. She is Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Immediately after graduation, she became interested in Functional Medicine. Her focus as a provider was shifting to a mind-set of how she could help her patients without using so many prescription medications. Patients seemed to be receiving more drugs from their doctors with no emphasis or success being placed on reversing any disease processes. Michelle gained her initial experience in Functional Medicine during a fellowship in its principles.
She began her Nurse Practitioner career in a primary Functional Medicine office. In this setting, patients would come to the practice seeking healthcare that was not drug centric. Michelle realized that the alternative methods of healthcare being offered is what patients desired. She perceived that people want and need personalized care, and the time and attention of the provider.
Philosophy
Relationships in Functional Healthcare are, Michelle believes, what make the difference to a patients’ success. Each patient is unique and comes with a different set of needs in order to feel and live their best life.
Michelle’s love of Functional Medicine has developed with a profound realization that issues such as adrenal fatigue, poor gut health, and hormone imbalance can be caused by stress, poor diet, and nutritional insufficiencies. With a root cause focus, patients can be restored to optimum health through IV therapy, exercise, diet, supplements, and other methods of functional care.
She has a strong love for educating her patients. Sharing the tools of Functional Medicine is “the only way to change the culture of age-related illness”.
Prior to joining the team at Root Cause Medical, Michelle was involved with the innovation and running of a busy functional medicine, integrative practice in Tennessee.
She developed the IV infusion program in the practice that treated many patients from all over the country who are suffering with conditions such as Lyme disease, mold exposure, fatigue, and other illnesses.
She has recently relocated to Florida which has been a dream for a long time. Michelle is very excited to join the team at Root Cause Medical Clinic.
Hobbies
Michelle was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. She is married to her husband of 23 years and has 2 children. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, mountain biking, going to movies, the beach, and traveling with her family.
